FRIDAY, 23RD OCTOBER

This past week I have written three pages in my ten minute script, I have yet to write the main challenge for Maria. I have written character biographies for Maria and Freeman. I also keep changing on how i’m going to end my script, I am unsure whether I wanna end it with being a premonition from Maria, or I make it so Freeman turns into one of the masked men and becomes the villain.

I have started to write down character biographies for my main two characters in my script. I have mad sit my priority to make ‘Maria’ and ‘Freeman’ have two very different personalities and attitudes towards life. Making ‘Maria’ the classical, shy and traditional young woman and ‘Freeman’ the modern, laid back and extrovert character. By doing this I’m applying Seger’s thought on ‘contrasting characters’ to show that opposites do attract.

I also plan on writing two scripts to see which one I feel is better and fits to the brief more. Both of these stories are based on dreams that I have had. One (which is my main idea) is based on a couple who go on a day trip to a historical Castle. They are then placed in the middle of a targeted location where a mob of masked people start attacking. The second story is a lot more simple, its based on the same couple, but the girl starts getting paranoid when her boyfriend starts being blunt and suspicious. She automatically thinks that he is cheating on her, after a climax (which i have not yet decided) she thens finds out he is actually planning on proposing to her.

THURSDAY, 8TH OCTOBER

I have thought more about my initial idea for my ten minute short on Maria and her boyfriend ending up in an unexpected cold blooded riot on the castle they are visiting. However I am starting to doubt the suitability of this to the time frame that we have. This is why I have come up with a back up plan of a girl who has paranoia, she panics that her boyfriend is cheating on her due to his stand offish behaviour towards her, later in the story she finds out that he is actually planning to propose. I feel that this may be more simple and easier to write for the short film, and possibly use my initial idea for the radio script ‘Lindum’.
